New book on audiences

The great team of audience researchers at Deakin University, Australia – including Jennifer Radbourne, Hilary Glow and Katya Johanson – have published a new edited book on The Audience Experience: A Critical Analysis of Audiences in the Performing Arts (Intellect, 2013). Stephanie Pitts has contributed a chapter on ‘Amateurs as audiences: reciprocal relationships between playing and listening’, exploring the ways in which prior experience of music-making affects listeners’ engagement in live music.Β  Other chapters include Martin Barker writing on digital streaming of the arts, and Matthew Reason on theatre for young audiences.
