Dr Jonathan Gross on creating cultural democracy

Dr Jonathan Gross (a former post-doctoral research associate at SPARC) has co-authored a new report that calls for ‘everyday creativity’ to be taken seriously.

Only 8% of people make regular use of publicly funded art, but every day people are getting creative by making their own versions of culture. Towards Cultural Democracy, commissioned by the Cultural Institute at Kings College London, identifies the value of this cultural democracy and its potential to shape UK cultural policy.

The report is the product of 15-months research carried out alongside the BBC’s Get Creative campaign, which itself was launched in response to the Warwick Commission.
