‘Dropping in and dropping out…’

Stephanie Pitts has been awarded funding from the AHRC Cultural Value project, to investigate the attitudes and experiences of lapsed and partial arts attenders and participants. She will carry out three linked studies with former members of amateur groups, and with arts attenders across a range of venues in Sheffield. The aim is to build on Stephanie’s previous work, Valuing Musical Participation (Ashgate, 2005), by understanding arts engagement ‘from the outside’ and so be able to advise educators and arts promoters about how to advocate for the arts to a wider potential audience.
