International Colleagues

We are delighted to have met and collaborated with international researchers at the forefront of performer and audience research over the past few years, and the profiles of some researchers whose work we particularly enjoy are listed below.

Recent collaborations include a jointly edited book by Karen Burland (University of Leeds) and Stephanie Pitts – Coughing and Clapping: Investigating Audience Experience (Ashgate, 2014).

Founding Members

SPARC was established by Stephanie Pitts and Chris Spencer and their jointly supervised PhD students, Melissa Dobson and Kate Gee, shortly after Melissa and Kate graduated from the Music and Psychology departments of the University of Sheffield.  We worked jointly on a knowledge exchange project with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, before Melissa and Kate left Sheffield for other academic roles.
